What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

I took my factory wheels off and put the Cobras on. LOL:D

I pulled up the drivers side window while manipulating the switch as to not roll my hand up in the window on my 95...I swear that girl loves to stay in my purse more than Tux!!! So far she has spent up her paint job...gesh....

Finally got it tinted, limo on the back and 1/4s and 22 on the doors

Put a new fuel filter on the '97 LSC (and didn't break the plastic inner fender well this time! Like I did with the '96 a couple of years ago - LOL). Also changed the transmission fluid on the '96 and fixed (I hope) an annoying pan leak I've had for a while.

Ya know the box shaped thing that goes around the front of a low beam headlight bulb? IIRC for some reason it's called the diffuser. The inside of the ones in my gen 1 HID housings (has 55w aftermarket 9005s) was bare metal and pretty much black, so I got some chrome tape and did my best to cover the black... It sucked, cause I had to do it through the hole where the bulb sits, but I managed to chrome probably 95% of the area.

Well it's like I have laser beams in front of my car now, the light beams are WAY brighter and much better focused. It probably doubled the distance at which I can see an object in the road. Now I just need to have somebody drive it past me while I sit in another car to see how blinding it is, but for the moment I'm pretty happy with it.

What the diffuser looked like before (as illuminated with a 3w LED flashlight, it looks almost black in person):

Just imagine it shiny cause I forgot to take an "after" pic.

And just for fun, left is a halogen housing, right is a gen 1 HID housing, both using 55w 6000k 9005 HID bulbs:

The light from both housings overwhelms the camera, but the HID is a lot brighter (mostly because it's more concentrated.)

I pulled all four factory ten spokes and steel wooled the interiors until I had them back down to the chrome (who knew the insides were supposed to be shiny also)?

Applied scratch out to the paint for the fourth time. It hasn't done a damn thing to remove the scratches in the clear coat, but it makes the paint almost as smooth as using a clay bar, and it's hella lot easier.

Waxed it, then put it in the garage just before it rained. :D

scrubbed the dead bugs offa Tux's windshield from driving back from Ford Nationals at Carlisle and snagging 1st place on the field! Driller got 1st in Mod and Jason took 3rd with Barney!

You guys gotta see Chris's convertable - WOW!!!!!! It is awesome, people were all over it. Chris would leave and I would begin answering questions and wiping her off. she shoulda had her own booth!!!

Brents cyclone is ....UNBELIEVABLY HOT!!!!!

Might leave the sticker on for a little while longer ; ) it was so great to see everyone again!!!! Chris if you took pics - post em!

also got both little black dress (LBD) and Tux's recalls done today too!!!

I'd like to see them - might get mine off and do it...gesh, that would take hours!!!

Returned to Afiliated Auto Glass (who did my tint), I noticed today that they scratched the outside of the right quarter glass with a razor, the trim out on both 1/4 glass looks like they cut it blind folded with a fork, there is debris under the driver door tint..

And on the way to the tint shop, my left corner light took a flying leap into traffic, it seriously just fell off my car and the guy behind me ran it over

OH MY GOSH - I think you meant traffic, but tragic is much more appropriate, but I don't get where your cat is involved.... hope it didn't fall into tragic too! that sucks about your tint too my guy was anal about mine, the fact that I helped him helped but he re-did the rear twice! He was not satisfied, neither was I but I didn't have to tell him, he'd look and say, well, you got a little more time, I gotta re-do it. Plus since I helped he did it with the highest quality film he has, I can really tell the difference betwen Tux's and LBD's (she has the better film).

Hope your tint gets right, and then your light too!

debi ; )

cleaned out the stoage unit where it is and about to move the whole car to the new one in a couple weeks, gonna be a bitch with no k-member in it. But i will then have a bigger storage unit to work on my car

Affiliated Auto Glass will be calling me tomorrow so we can discuss what will be done about the 1/4 glass on the right that they scratched, it's not a little scratch, it's about a foot long, where the guy cut it with a razor blade from the top nearest the door to the bottom edge

I found a new corner marker light for $60 at a junk yard, but it's major heat cracked so I didn't take it, on the way home from the junk yard the right side fell off too...I guess it's shedding for summer, or perhaps it knows that LaserSVT is getting a blower so it's doing its own version of weight reduction so it'll stand a chance in the next race

it's like Laser says, as soon as you have $ saved for something cool on these cars, they decide for themselves that you WILL spend that $ on something entirely different

My ten spokes are not in great shape (center hub flaking, interiors have rot) but the effect of cleaning the insides of the wheels was quite dramatic. Looking directly at the wheels, it's hard to see the improvement, but from any distance the car has much more 'pop'. Hard to explain unless you see the car every day.

I don't have a camera or I would take a pic, but if you dig your car, this is something that's easy to do (time consuming, but easy) and once you do it if you keep at it every year, it will give your vehicle a distinctive look. :)

Changed oil. Added some free-on. Car acted up died while stopping, will look at the iac tmrw. I need to clean maf and change out air filter soon.

You mean, refrigerant, for your A/C system?

Freon is a trade name ;)

installed my new/used rims and ordered new tires. the tires are louder than my car! yikes

Drove the '96 around some yesterday and checked underneath. Yay! No more transmission pan gasket leak! It also runs a little better since I cleaned the MAF, seafoamed it, and soaked the IAC in seafoam for a couple of days. Maybe I'll actually replace the stoopid thing someday.
