What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Ok I have looked cant find anything on this my 94 mark trac control dont work off light stays lit up wont go off any ideas will help

blah......ended up the rca's were fine and it continued to fade in/out today...check the connections at the amp and rear fuse again..checked out good..checked the fuse at the battery (forgot) and the input wire got loose while i was working on it last week. So i tightened her up and got it in a more secure place were me working on the front end wont effect it.

I'll say it again....it's working fine for now.

FOR FU CKS SAKE!!!!

Pushed my box back to far and was touching/vibrating the amp..Power wire eased out enough to have the occasional poping sound through the subs. Got a new bolt for the input as the hex screw was getting alittle stripped..I couldn't tighten the old one as much as i wanted but thought it was good enough. guess not..all is well now.

OMGWTFBBQ I'm a big balla!!

I did notice one of the wheel speed sencers didnt look good least I think thats what it is right at the pig one at each axle

Drove the wife's '97 LSC to the grocery store last night to get a bottle of zin and noticed the check engine light was off. I haven't driven the car in a week and last time I drove it the CEL was on. She said it's been on since we got the 3rd cat cut off and the glasspacks installed. I thought maybe that had something to do with it, but it didn't make sense because there's no O2 sensors behind that 3rd cat. I never got the chance to check the codes but if it comes on again, maybe I will. I'm just glad it's gone.

Okay, went to Advanced Awful Parts and pulled codes on the '97 finally. It said PRNDL range sensor malfunction. And the trans gear display between the tach and speedo has been intermittently going out lately. I assume there's a sensor on the linkage somewhere under the console that probably needs replacing? Anyway, apart from that, when I got it home, I started getting this annoying little "beeping" that I've never heard before. It is not the regular door chime. Its more of a computer-like beep. It does about 6 or 8 double-beeps right after the ignition is turned on, then it stops. What the heck is this? I've never heard it before. Anybody got any ideas?

a bad speed sensor will screw up the traction control for sure.

hey sapper who is on that million dollar bill isnt it this guy from home alone 1

it is from christine! thats roberts blossom, that is his name. awesome actor! he was kevin's creepy neightbor on home alone 1!

and the question on the trac light, yes, a bad sensor with put the trac off light on default on the switch. my 93 has had an abs problem since i got the car and since day one the traction control stays off no matter what.

no he lived across the street from kevin, kevin watched him from outside his window while he was shoveling his driveway, then when marv and harry were trying to break into kevins house, at the end kevin ran across the street and turned the water on in the old mans house and called the cops and said the 2 guys were robbing the old mans house, his last name was murphy in the movie! i watch too many movies!

Waxed the car then messed with the trans tune some more. Prolly end up getting a new spring in the future to help make the 1-2 shift firmer.
I think there is something wrong with my ALT. I was at a friends house earlier and left the car idling for a good 30 minutes. Still showed a charge when I started to leave and was strong when I turned the lights on. I pulled out and the "Check Traction Control" error came up and then the lights went off as well as everything else for a split second and then it all came back on like it was all good.

It may just be my fuse box. The power strip inside it was ripped out of a few sockets and I thought I fixed it but maybe not. Hopefully Jeremy will find me a new fuse box and I can see if that was the issue.

Or maybe we are just really hard on some Alts,
I just had mine rebuilt a couple weeks back, last night the car died at the window of Wendys...

I got it started and went to a friends to look at his 98 Mark LSC ....his is black with light graphite, moon roof ...mainly
the baseline of the next one I want..

Anywho, someone tore his Mark apart, from the looks of it, they were trying to get the valve covers off because they are leaking down into the spark plugs...

Well long story short, I went to leave and the car was dead ....so he gave me his Alt..looks a bit different...

Keep us posted if a Gen 2 Alt works in a Gen 1. I have wondered this too.

Yes a Gen2 has the same Alt, I was borrowing Lasers while I had the old one in the pic rebuilt...his motor was on a stand, so he didn't need it at the time anyway...gotta love having friends...especially awesome friends with interchangable car parts :)

I was buying a 97 lsc for 3000 i was working for the guy he was driving it while I was paying it off I didnt like the 94 when I got it but it grew on me and I would not trade it for a gen 2 in better shape I seen on here some were head lights being redone is that hard to do?

a gen 2 alt is not the same as a gen one alt, but a gen 2 alt will work on a gen 1, you cant put a gen 1 alt on a gen 2, the stud is in a different position for the power wire on a gen 1 alt and if you put it on a gen 2, that stud will hit the intake manifold and arc out. gen 1 and gen 2 alts also have a different location for the main plug, you have to pull the harness towards the pass side to get it to plug into the gen 2 alt if you put it on a gen 1!!! damm all this gen 1 gen 2 crap!

Ordered the last bit of gaskets I need to get my engine fully reassembled (IMRC's and intake+throttle body and valve covers)!!! Those are the last gaskets that I need to get it running!! They will be here Tuesday and that night and wednesday I will probably be working on it and finishing the engine installation and cranking the beast up!!! I also took the pumpking down so I can swap the newer gears and trac-loc that I have from a S/C T-bird. I will post some more pics this week while I am working on it and when it is all done and cleaned up!!! It is kind of rough doing this bye myself. First Gen2 and first Mark Viii engine installation!!!! But no problems yet!!! (crossing fingers) I am only worried about the harness and vacuum lines but my brother has a '98 so I can compare! He just does'nt have it running so I cannot compare it side by side. He lost his keys and has'nt bought a new ignition switch yet!!! I took some pics of it yesterday but I could'nt get good pics of all the vacuum lines or the harness but I will figure it out. Maybe he will get his running by the time I get mine ready to plug up!!!

Found my exhaust leak today. The Magnaflow X-pipe resonator has a 4" long crack in it and a 2mm hole. Gonna call Magnaflow tomorrow and try and get a warrenty replacement.
