What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

From what I have been reading, you're definitely right.

Is that a slant 6 I'm seeing in your avatar picture?

No, it's a stock 4.6 from another Mark...mine has a blown head gasket...am actually doing the swap starting this afternoon ---stay tuned to Sapperfires 93 blue on blue progress thread :) YAY!!!

Ah... it really looks like an old slant 6 painted Ford blue. I thought that was odd! I guess it's hard to tell from the small pic. I'll peek at your thread and see what's up with that.

Maybe that siggy pic should be available to everyone? I tried to resize it to fit as an avatar, but you couldn't read it due to the size limit.

Are you two working on the same motor or something? I like the valve covers - real pretty. Looks like you painted the intake and some other stuff, too. What brand of paint did you use? That doesn't look like silver or platinum.

LINK ME!

Yes, the motor is at my house and will be installed this weekend. The valve covers are ford racing blue and the timing and intake are titanium blue.

Off topic, I know, but did anybody check out the new Americanized version of "Top Gear" on the History channell? I watched it. It was decent, but not nearly as good as the British version. I'm hoping it gets better, but I'm not counting on it. It seems...watered down...compared to the original. I just don't think anyone can compare to Jeremy Clarkson, Captain Slow (James May), and The Hamster (Richard Hammond). And it seems of late that whenever we Americans try to remake a British show, it always ends up horrible. Anyway, I'm going to keep watching it just because its "Top Gear". But the Brit original is still my all time favorite show on TV.

Put the other half of my lower broken telescopeing bearings/slider in and fixed my steering colum cover. Wrapped my elec connections that went to my air susp just in case of water/snow ect.

Shipped driller my height sensors and hid ballasts.

Exhaust work was done third cat replaced with x pipe and mufflers cut off and replaced with pipe and stock tips car sounds beastly as hell........like yeah I'm not messing with him

filled the gas tank. not getting mileage like it used to. might need o2 sensors. 175k on the stock ones. hmmm.

Oh that '69 Cougar brings back memories...I used to have a British Racing Green '69 with a 351-W and automatic. I loved that car! I miss it too. My dad and I totally restored that car when I was in high school. Anyhoo. Nice Coug!

haha. yeah. that's my dads. grandma bought it new back in 69. its been with us since then and gone through 3 engines so far. the current one is fuel injected though. :D alotta fun.

Drove the '96 to work again today. God, she's runnin' like $hi!t. Idling rough as hell, lurching and skipping in O/D at anything under 45mph, feels like it has a miss and it has a vibration at around 2500RPM, front rotors are starting to vibrate like they're warped, and I think the lower ball joints are going because I've got a squeak up front that I can hear and feel through the floorboard any time the front suspension moves up or down. And the upper balljoints are relatively new. I know it needs a new set of plug wires, TPS, IAC, PCV, and a few other things here and there. But I can't afford it. And it sucks!

Got bored and decided to start running some 2awg wire I found in the garage instead of the 4awg i had..Also found a better way to route it with the drivers side inner fender liner off. Got to cold so it will be finished another day.

Nothing much, took the radiator out and dropped the engine/trans

Let the '96 sit in the yard this morning. Watched and listened to my wife's '97 leave the house this morning as she drove to work. I seriously like the sound of those glasspacks! I'm thinking of getting rid of the resonator on the '96 and putting glasspacks on it too. It sounds like a 60's musclecar. My '96 has cut off mufflers and it's not as loud as the '97 with mufflers. Crazy. But I'll be driving the Exploder for a while until I can get the '96 to run better. It's pi$$ing me off. I know what's wrong but can't afford to fix it. Being broke sucks donkey a$$.:( I'm just dam lucky I've got a spare vehicle to drive.:)

Felt Frisky and absolutely smoked a Beautiful Convertible 60's model Camaro from stoplight to stoplight. Guessing it had an inline 6 in it?

Got the wire done but was 1ft to short..fu ck! Guess i'll finish it off w/ 4ga from the distro block mounted under the rear seat..eek.

Makes perfect.

We are getting faster too! Only took an hor and a half to remove it and then another hour to strip it apart.
