new owner / 2000 ls

BTW, your resonators where hacked away from that stock exhaust.

Mine's on the list to be redone still, drunken sailor got at mine, not perfect enough and the chrome tips have to come off. Next summer for sure.

For elephantrider, with a shop and lift like that, I'm sure it won't be long before we see the whole system replaced.

Man, I wish I had a shop like that, wouldn't be able to drag me out of it. I have to suck in my gut in to get to the other side of my LS and with the firewood in for the winters, I have a foot in the front and couple inches at the rear bumper before the garage door scrapes it.

keep telling my wife "KITCHEN IS TOO BIG", should have been a double garage house!

oh yes, the exhaust on there is mos def a hack job and a half, no doubt.
that will be remedied once we get the suspension issues cleared up.

i do appreciate, and know very well how lucky i am to have a work space
of a full shop. it surely makes it easier to do basically anything. having
said that, i've spent many an hour on car builds that i did on jack stands,
and i'm getting too old, and my belly getting too big to be doing jack
stand work anymore ;)

i couldnt imagine getting under there with a wire wheel and cleaning all that
up, though. since we basically have zero winter precip around here, i'll probably
leave that as is lol

hey, any of you guys know specifically what 2825 led replacement people are using
with good results for the license plate light ?

i'm seeing a 13 smd replacement - but not sure how the bulb is set into the socket.
the previous owner tried putting some in there, but it LOOKS like that he didnt get
a bright enough ( not enough smd's ) or, the socket has fallen to the side, not letting
all the light to shine on the plate... just wanted to be sure i got the correct one.

anyone have a pic of the socket that i can see ?

going to try these, they are at a bit of an angle downward. going to check it out this
afternoon. i guess the socket is kind of at an angle as well...?

got another question regarding the center console... so on my gen 1, 2000 year model
( obviously ), i have the shyte arse folding cup holder, but i'm looking on ebay, and it
looks like ( based on the year model descrip ) that there was another option with the
cup holders built in..? its definitely not a gen 2 console, due to no electric parking brake,
so would this fit my gen 1 ?

awesome sauce ! going to find a color matched console and buy it.
ninja cup holders lmao that is classic.

thanks ( again, and again lol ) for the info and links.

That's the center console that's in my gen 1 so I would assume it would fit yours. Of course I dunno about any changes to the stuff underneath it...

yeah, it should be the same on the gen 1's. also eyeballing this little deal here.
would be nice to have a back seat power point. mine doesnt have one, but it
looks like some of the gen 1's came with it...

It seems that there were some changes between 00-01, I didn't know that not all first gens had the same center console. Yeah that rear charger is pretty useful.
Oh yeah and yes the license plate sockets are at a bit of an angle. I have LED's in there (forget which type) but they are straight not angled, still seems to light up the plate just fine.

could be that the previous owner just bought some crappy led's to put in
there due to the left one being not as bright as the right side.

on another note, got all of the suspension bits delivering tomorrow, so will
start the rebuild this wknd. cant wait to see what a totally new suspension
does to the car.

After 2000 they changed the gen 1 console to get rid of the flip-ups. The later version fits right on, but there will be a little gap on the passenger side between the console top and base, where the flip-up used to be. I had it done on mine and am happy I did. There is a thread with pictures (not mine) you can find.

Yup. That was a Gen1 "upgrade." I added one of those to my old '00. I also added one to my '06. I've thought about doing it to my wife's '06 but just haven't taken the time......

did you just wire it up through the console, or what power wire did you tap into
for the rear socket.. assuming that if there wasn't one, lincoln didn't just have
a plug under the a/c vents..?

Gen II has a socket inside the center console storage compartment. You can tap into that as long as you don't expect to use full power from both of them at the same time.

was asking how you tapped into power when you added this to your 2000
model.

maybe i misunderstood / misread... :)

well as long as you keep the power consumption total under the fused amount, you can just tap the wires into any of the other power ports wires (or the front one if that is all you have...) (phone chargers and sh!t like that shouldn't have a problem) but if you are running a lot of power (like a power inverter) you're going to need to run dedicated fused power wire from the fuse box.

I piggy-backed off the lighter at the front of the console for the '00 and used the one in the console for the '06.

got it. cool deal. the interior will be 2nd on the list after i get
the suspension swapped out in the next few days.

The first time I did it I just got the "outlet" from Radio Shack and drilled the hole in the stock piece. I mucked it up a little so bought the panel from the dealer. IIRC, it was something like $50.
