Sapperfires 93 blue on blue progress thread

So I was just sittin at home minding my own business and get a couple weird texts from Sapperfire. I realize he is out at a JY pulling his motor and the douche canoe didn't even call me. Dick. So hes out there by his lonesome and has to pick his daughters up soon so I headed out there to give him a hand. 50 miles latter and I find him near the back of the lot.
He found a 94 with a pretty solid engine that hes gonna have re-bearing ed and re-ringed for an absurdly low price..... so low that I have my doubts about it. I paid more to just have my cams timed.

Anyway, since we needed to go up with the motor we did things the hard way. While he went to get his daughters I got the AC out of the way and pulled off the motor mounts then dropped the k-member. Our plan was to remove the trans on the ground, under the car, since we didn't have any way of sliding the car or the engine on the ground. It has been raining like crazy for the last couple days and the ground was kinda nasty.

Unfortunately the engine didn't wanna give up the trans and it was close to closing time. We just hoisted the whole thing up from the front and yanked the whole thing out.

Wasn't the most glamorous way but we only had an hour to remove it and it went from still bolted in to hanging like that in just under that time. Set it down and found the hiccup, was caught on the EGR tube on one side and the inspection plate was catching the flywheel. Anyway we got it divorced and rolled that damn engine in the mushy mud, uphill, to the opposite side of the wrecking yard...... I almost died! Fortunately the office had a bad ass AC and I cooled down quickly.

Unfortunately the dude that was supposed to show with his truck didn't show. So Sapperfire has to go back tomorrow with a truck and get it. Hope some ass hat don't snag it after all that damn work.

So after it gets back from a freshening up we will slap it in his car and then have another spare motor ready for rebuilding.

Duuuude, thanks for comin out last minute and stuff...there were certain circumstances as to me haulin a$$ out there to get it. Quit your cryin, you weren't doin :q:q:q:q anyway..gave you a reason to haul ass in your car on the way here..:)...but seriously, I couldn't ask
for a better friend to have when I have snags in life. Nothin like rolling around in the mud under a wrecked car on your day off with your buddy to make ya feel a bit more alive ...lol
lookin like ya rolled around under a car in the mud-free
takin the motor ya played with-$135
shyt not going according to plan- inevitable

The adventures of Sapp and Laser! You guys do look like you probably do the most M8 work between the 2 of you, than anyone else here on a regular basis. Good luck with your swap, when do you think you'll do it once you get the motor home?

The motor swap will be a week at ealiest, I have to arrange days off from work when it doesn't cut out my rent check, as well as making sure my ol lady and kids have a ride for the day/s I'm gone to Bills

besides the time frame of the swap, that motor needs some tlc, oil pan gasket, coolant gasket for safe measures and valve covers are deff coming off and getting painted

the paint color I'm still undecided about...how bout Ford motor blue and high polishing the timing chain cover?

snag me them headlights sapper and send em to me i'll redo them for you!

The headlights are $30 each, would love to have a set to send and have you redo, but with the motor, and doing all external seals before a hasty install I'm goin to be broke for the remainder of the month, unless I get some sidejobs that are worth some good hours
along with seals and gaskets I'll be replacing the IAC and all vacuum lines, was rolling the idea of the fuel basket since mine doesn't work...kinda dumb not to

along with $60 for the lights, and you doing them, shipping both ways would bring the total near $200, I just don't have it to spare...you do an awesome job..but for $200 I could get an HID kit (which I really want) and redo the lights myself, I know you need the work just like everyone else, especially after buying your wife a car..so it's absolutly nothing personal bro, I just don't have it. Doing a tuneup and valve cover gasket on an old ladys car a couple days ago allowed me the breathing room of snagging that motor today, supposedly I have another plug and wire r/r on a suburban in a few days, if that happens you may get a package on your door ;-)

for 30 each dont bother, i have 2 sets that are mine that need to be redone let me know when you want a set and i'll restore them and sell them to you for $100 shipped. thats if you dont try yourself, but go for it if you want i dont care its no biggy i honestly cant stand doing them anymore lol!

Yeah that's why I mentioned the price, because those look horrible, and asking too much, then all the work it would take to restore ....let me scrape together a side job in the next week or so and I'll deffinatly take a set for $100...I need to find the best HID "for the money" on CL ...I'll see how better housings act before I get fancy

Not sure when the install is planned but I guess the cleaning/teardown starts Thursday to make the motor look better any prolly bet some new gaskets in it.

bought new gaskets.. Oil Pan, Valve Covers, Timing Plate, Front and Rear Mains, water pump o-ring, Oil Filter adapter gasket, and some paint, FoMoCo blue for the block and heads, silver for the Valve Covers and pulleys

Did you give a thought about changing out the valve cover o-ring. The one for the spark plugs.

What did the valve cover gasket kit cost. I have to do mine as my passenger side leak quite a bit and need to replace asap.

I got all external gaskets and seals for $80..but keep in mind that I get a commercial discount

Yay my progress thread gets some attention again...

After brake pedal went to the floor, I looked around for a leak and found it to be the Cruise Control switch, having already done the recall by Lincoln I decided to finish this once and for all..

and since the master cylinder was out, it gave me easy access to the rear UCA nut..and since the car was on a lift and wheels were off...I tossed in both new UCAs ...took 1 hour to do all 3 repairs

because they are both garbage chinese upper control arms. sapper you'll be replacing them again in 6 months. hate to say it!

Those are both moog, and the grease fitting was still sitting on my toolbox, hadn't gotten to that part when I took the pic

hate to tell you bro but those are not moog, they may have been in moog boxes, but they arent moog, two reasons i know, one, moog do not have zerks they are sealed ball joints, and two, the arm is not a casted arm like those, its a steal stamped arm and moog are about half as thick as those. moog control arms will say TRW stamped right into the arm, look at the difference
this a moog arm

and this is a cheapo like what you got looks like a raybesto's

Agreed, they aren't the proper Moog/TRW pieces. However, my proper (from Rock Auto) Moog/TRW upper arms for a 96' T-Bird do have those Zerk fittings.

mine are for a Tbird, notice mine doesnt have the little nipple for the height sensor, anyway, they were $100 (with my discount) for the pair and have a lifetime warranty...that means, as long as i feel like changing them, they are free from now on
