So I was just sittin at home minding my own business and get a couple weird texts from Sapperfire. I realize he is out at a JY pulling his motor and the douche canoe didn't even call me. Dick. So hes out there by his lonesome and has to pick his daughters up soon so I headed out there to give him a hand. 50 miles latter and I find him near the back of the lot.
He found a 94 with a pretty solid engine that hes gonna have re-bearing ed and re-ringed for an absurdly low price..... so low that I have my doubts about it. I paid more to just have my cams timed.
Anyway, since we needed to go up with the motor we did things the hard way. While he went to get his daughters I got the AC out of the way and pulled off the motor mounts then dropped the k-member. Our plan was to remove the trans on the ground, under the car, since we didn't have any way of sliding the car or the engine on the ground. It has been raining like crazy for the last couple days and the ground was kinda nasty.
Unfortunately the engine didn't wanna give up the trans and it was close to closing time. We just hoisted the whole thing up from the front and yanked the whole thing out.
Wasn't the most glamorous way but we only had an hour to remove it and it went from still bolted in to hanging like that in just under that time. Set it down and found the hiccup, was caught on the EGR tube on one side and the inspection plate was catching the flywheel. Anyway we got it divorced and rolled that damn engine in the mushy mud, uphill, to the opposite side of the wrecking yard...... I almost died! Fortunately the office had a bad ass AC and I cooled down quickly.
Unfortunately the dude that was supposed to show with his truck didn't show. So Sapperfire has to go back tomorrow with a truck and get it. Hope some ass hat don't snag it after all that damn work.
So after it gets back from a freshening up we will slap it in his car and then have another spare motor ready for rebuilding.
