What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Recarpeted the rear deck. Looks alot better then it did w/ that oval cutout i had. Close color match but not perfect, but atleast its all the same color now. Didn't realize just how dirty the back oem stuff was, no cleaning that.

Before:

I'll get after pics and dd/comp/rear deck in a day or 2.

Put my rear seats back in at the same time. Umm, resoldered 2 wires that i mixed up behind the h/u.

Made a new mount for my gps and replaced a burnt bulb in my 3rd brake light.

Congrats KBR...remember if the police officer asks you to step out of the car...kindly look him in the eye then ask him "Am I under arrest officer?"
If the officer asks me to step out of the car I will say "i would gladly do so if I could officer but I am paralyzed and need to get my wheelchair" "Unless you feel strong and want to drag my 230 pound ass out, have fun" :D.

Don't say that. Look him/her straight in the eye and say...

then speed off. :D
Now that all depends on how fine that female officer is?

If it turns out to be the same officer that showed the night of my accident? She can do whatever she damn well pleases. That girl could have been a stripper dressed as a car for all I have known at the moment. :D

I didn't see her until the next day at the hospital.Let me just say that I was hoping some friends decided to try to make me "feel better" :D.

If I see her.The petal is to the floor ;).

Replaced the rear window molding.

Just painted the car and needed to do something with the back glass molding. Not a perfect solution, but can't afford to buy a whole window assembly. Had the local glass company pull the glass and use an aftermarket molding around it. They had to custom cut the upper corners to fit which isn't perfect, but at least the surfaces lay down nice and flat.

Put the '96 Mark out at the end of the road with a "For Sale" sign in the windshield. I honestly don't want to sell her, but we can't afford insurance on 4 vehicles. And after buying the Cobra, we need the money more than the car:(

Building a cubby box for where the cd changer used to be..pics when I'm done

You should have just opened the door and flopped out on to the road

Washed her and waxed the wheels. Drove it to town to pay my property taxes and a water main blew up through the road near the tax office. Car is no longer shiney. :(

Priced all the stuff to paint my trim and realized for $20 more I can have my body shop do it. Not that I can afford it now anyway but I was curious.
They also quoted me $250 to do the Temple Performance bumper whenever it comes out. :)

That sucks.Kinda makes your time feel almost wasted don't it?

Not bad for $250.Have you also campared other prices or this a shop you have been going to for some time now?

cooling fan isnt running... car overheated. fan plug is fine. not burnt or anything. sudden no ac yesterday when dad was driving it.
vcrm?

vrcm...vcrm... i've seen both so many times idk what it is. lol.
thanks thaywood.

It's also called a VLCM sometimes. Variable Relay Control Module or Variable Load Control Module (I think, don't quote me:D). Same thing happened to my '96 Mark. Just be glad you don't have a '96 model;) You should be able to find one fairly cheap for yours. When mine died, the fan stopped working and the A/C stayed on even when the key was off and killed my battery twice before I figured out WTF was going on! Good luck. I hope you find one soon and get her back on the road again:)

Well when he mentioned that the A/C stopped blowing cold, that's when I figured it is probably the fan is bad, just like GMAN's issue.

Called about a dyno tune, qouted me $300-400 plus $50 to install a bung hole before one of the 02 sensors, this is to put a temporary 02 sensor in that is required for the tune...at least that is my understanding. He said he would reflash my SCT chip with 4 tunes of my choosing. Now I have to decide if I am going to do the headers then the tune or go ahead with the tune....definetly doing a fuel pump upgrade and cold air kit first.

Pulled the bumper off to get ready for the Temple unit... oh crap wrong end!

I backed into a pole 3 months ago and spider'd the paint bad. I dropped it off to World Toyota in GA (They are trusted) and it's ready for Picku... err, install in the parking lot special!
My list is getting shorter and the car is looking better & better. Seeing the bent tip in all it's glory has me wanting to get the exhaust done pronto but it's a little further down on the list. Windshield is up next.

I cracked the seat frame last month...

PullaPart.jpg

I went to the local Pull-A-Part and made the mistake of thinking the '96 seat base would work in my '97. Removing a seat that is stuck all the way back is a challenge.

Motors.jpg

I welded my old seat frame back to spec, painted it and also rebuilt the motors.

Brushes.jpg

Turns out the brushes are the same as the ones for my old RC car (RC10).

SV1.jpg

I managed to rip the linky logo off the seat back so I had my upholster fix it up and added my initials. He also fixed the lower bolster just in time. I could see the "wire" was just about to eat into the seat cover.

Now it's all better and the seat feels wonderful!

I'm also doing a system...

Finally put in new spark plug wires!

Geez, it's so nice to be earning a real paycheck again. Picked up a set of Belden wires from NAPA (might not be the best, but they're a cool dark blue and better than the crap I had, which were probably the originals from '96).
Yeah, I ordered the Cobra cables for the same mill and saved like 30 bucks. :D
Two hour job, but I'm a mechanically inept dude trying to learn from the knowledge posted here at LVC, and I was pretty hungover too. Got em loomed in, looking neat, put the snorkel and the whatchamacallit back on, and fired the old girl up. Purred like a happy kitten, that low-idle miss that's been driving me nuckin' futz for months is GONE. :gr_hail::gr_hail::wrench:Beer

A good day. :)

bent the inside of my rim and bubbled the sidewall of my tire, Thanks pothole.

 I always laugh at that commercial right after I cringe from the G35 hitting it.

Sorry to hear that STU. Is it a stock wheel or aftermarket? There is a place in Dallas that can straighten almost any wheel for $75 but if its a stock one I am sure you can get a fresh one for cheaper.

Fixed my "Bank 1 Sensor 2" problem today. I was using Sapperfires Matco scanner and tester and it didnt see the sensor. Turns out the plug wiggled off. So glad I dont have to spend $60 on a new one. :)
