What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Lovin it!!

Finally took my car to Alternative Auto in Detroit MI to get a custom tune.

Took the car on its first 600-mile road trip to visit my dad for father's day weekend. It did great on the highway.. but I guess this doesn't count towards really doing anything to the car..

Took it to car & coffee yesterday and visited my old neighbor today and left two nice black marks a few doors down from MsM8tress's house. (he he said light em up! so you gotta do it )

Well, not today, but this week I.....put er up on jack stands, removed wheels, repaired rock chips, sanded them, painted them same color, with less of a milky look and more metallic, used a soft pad on the grinder and slicked out the brake calipers and repainted them, also painted the tops of the rotors, honestly,I didn't want to,but it turned out killer. I also painted the wheel wells black again,re-drilled my air shock mounts, screwed up a rear bag horribly. My dumbarse didn't take into consideration the cutting wheels width :-/ good thing for spares :-D I also messed upy entire car paint! The windows and bumpers and hood and headlights and taillights have little rust spots all over it due to the grinding on the calipers and rain. I was ticked. So I have been clay barring the car and then I'm going to buff it. All before Thursday which is Scrapin the Coast auto show in Biloxi. Oh,also have a 820 watt amp with a Kicker comp VR 12 hooked up. Talk about the Marks being a rattle box. It's firing towards the rear of the car. Is this the best place for them in our cars?
I am using my phone for this,so if anyone wants to see any pics of the stuff I did,it's on Facebook. Look me up. Isaiah Gibbs.

I'll try to post up pics from the show,it's an awesome show!

Well mine took me to go pick up a F600 with 23k on the clock for $700 but I got beat to it by a Landscaper

However then it took me to a deal where if I get rid of a bunch of scrap metal in a friends back yard he is giving me his project 89' Formula Fire Bird V8 5speed :D

Only prob is a storm broke a limb off on a tree and it smashed the hatch window.

Replaced bank 2 sensor 2 oxygen sensor. (drivers side rear) took care of that code and replaced EVAP canister vent solenoid hopefully took care of that code. Hoping to get her inspected so I can move on to put my exhaust and tint on.

Forgot to post yesterday that I cleaned out my MAF and the rough idling went away :D Hell of a lot cheaper than putting in new O2 sensors like was suggested my the guy I got my original 96' Mark from :shifty:

Finally finished the suspension on the passenger side. I have had very little time so I only got to mess with it a tiny bit every few days. Now I have to rip into the drivers side.

replaced a coil pack i fried by getting water down in the journal from lightly washing the engine bay and detailing it, this is why i never put water in the bay and went against everything i always said about wetting down a gen 2 motor and look what i did lol. i barely made it to work and back home it was running so bad, good thing i had my spare brand new coil pack! fixed it right up.

I learned not to get water anywhere near the top of the motor pretty quickly. I "fried" 2 of the coils when i washed it for the first time. Bought a used set of 8 for 50 bucks, replaced 2 of em,keep 2 in the trunk, and the rest in my spare parts box.

I noticed the rear neon was out before it went in for paint so now it's back and looks great but time to replace the Ballast with the one I got from Glitch for my first Mark. The car was totaled so I took all the stuff I put into it including the brand new HID's.

I bought a 12ft box of Dynamat ($80) for the drivers door (inner panel and out) and this is what I had left over for the trunk. I took the drivers side door panel off myself so they could paint the door and wanted to get some sound deadening on it before I reinstalled the panel. I used Raamat before and $80 got me enough to do the entire roof as well as the passenger door. The RAAMat was much thicker and felt like it would do the job better then the Dynamat but it's online ordering only and I needed to get the door skin back on today so I went for the Dynamat.

Oh how wonderful it is to be able to just take care of such a major problem with ease. Good thing I was thoughtful enough to pull it out of the wreck.

Kudo's goes to folks like Glitch and Jamie that have went that extra mile for those in need. I have done so many times and as a matter of fact I just had a lady at work order a Coil swap kit from Eddie for her '98 LSC. I could not take the sight of seeing the front drop and the rear up high so I tracked her down 2 months ago and told her I could help.

i wet sanded my headlight (yes only one cuz the other is only a few years old) then realized i have no compound to polish it out

i got my windows tinted and started removing road tar from the bottom door and fender on passenger side, im 30 bucks into crap thats supposed to remove road tar and it still isnt coming off!

update for both of my mk's.

thing 1.

got my timken rear bearings, SKF seals and went up to ford and ordered new spindle nuts. also looking into a COP conversion. btw why cant the cobra intake fit under stock hood of a gen 1? because im looking at switching to a cobra intake manifold.

thing 2. (205,XXX miles)

dropped the exhaust, dropped the gas tank and took out the old fuel pump. put in the new fuel pump :D (first major thing done on this beast) drained gas tank, and removed all the brake lines under the car. sent out brake lines to have new ones made. removed rotors, calipers, pads. ordered new rotors, calipers, pads. and slowly buffing the car. trying to find a new passenger side door anyone have one? i need one in DK "champagne" color.

now that schools out, i have more time to work on my cars! (1986 camaro :shifty: , 95 mk Viii) :D

take a razor blade. BE CARFUL and just start picking at it. the hit the area with some buffing compound to get rid of the rest of the residue. :D

Razor blade?!? NO!! Bad!

Purple power or simple green will work. Soak a rag and then hold it against the tar for a few seconds. After done you will need to rewax that area.

i thought about the razor blade, but im not good with sharp objects ;), i will try the purple power or simple green...thanks

even wd40 would work
it would work very well and wouldnt hurt the paint

but neither would simple green or power purple, that would just take a few seconds longer

Ohhh, I'll have to try that also! I'm sick of looking at the road tar/burnt rubber on my rear bumper, and it will look better until I get a new paint job.

So far I checked my oil level so I can drive it one more day then tear it down for the oil pan gasket. Yes, I procrastinate!
