What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

the fronts would stay up 4-5 days. and original

Try to get up close and take a pic of the bottom portion of your front air shocks and see if they look like this.

The two bottom pics are what mine looked like. The above pic is what Kevin's looked like. Gen 1 shock

These were Gen 2 shocks. You might have to break down and spend about $615 from Amazon and get some new Gen 2 Motorcrafts.

Before I knew Amazon had them, I had already bought both of mine for $723 but it's said and done now. Very easy to swap over. Haven't had a problem since and shouldn't for a good 10-15 years.

Finally got around to tightening the hose clamp that became a bit loose causing some of that all important green juice to escape.

That was my project for the weekend.

Mine's sitting in the driveway today. Thought I'd let her rest a bit and drive the Cougie to work:D

I think if obummer lets me get a tax refund this year I'll see if mom will let me buy the Cougar. I really like that car:)

My new $25 radar detector showed up today. Even after fixing my old one last weekend I just couldn't pass this up. Ends up I got it for about 1/3 of what they go for used. I'm impressed so far.

Display is solid, camera makes it look funny.

I kinda like that thing. I have only owned 1 in my life. It's been many years ago and was a Whistler I believe.

I started the Mark for the first time in 5 days. Just let it run for about 3 min and then shut it back off. I mentioned a few days ago about my rpm reading and had it wrong. I watched it just now and it cranked up at around 1300 to 1500 and then after about a minute, it slowly drifted down to around 800-900 and rested there.

It's def the nicest one i've owned. I rarely ever need it, it's just a good heads up for when both cops and other emergency vehicles are running hot. I think i'm most excited about the voltage meter. Hooked it and my dmm up and the voltage readout is spot on. It's surprisingly sensative :)

Glad you read the rpm's correctly this time.:p

I was guessing at it last time but I actually set there this evening and watched them this time.

i also run a radar detector. not because i really need one either, but i like knowing.
if it starts beeping, i start checking my mirrors to make sure i don't have to get out of someone's way.
most cops in my area always run their radar on too (sometimes over night, it'll start beeping and i can see the little green/red light on their dash) so they get picked up.

Power seat quit working today :( Memory still works and seat still goes into preset position, but the switches on the side don't work anymore

Pretty much what Rich is saying. I remember the 93 doing the same thing and it turned out to just be loose connections. I pushed the seat forward button and held it while I fiddled with the plugs under the seat and it started moving. Unplugged them and sprayed with CRC electronics cleaner and they worked fine until the car was t-boned.

Maybe it is unplugged? If you need a new switch, let me know.

You're probably right. This started after I took the plastic side trim off and "sorta" fixed it so it wasn't hanging down to the floor anymore. So maybe I didn't get the switch plugged back in tight enough. I'll check it next time I get a chance :)

...discovered that w/ the air ride sw OFF, my white '96 is holding pressure, not slammed after not being pumped up for 2 days
---update---
proceed to drive around the block a couple of times, puled back in the driveway, shut her down and the front sank in less than 10 mins; if/when this car passes emissions I may order those front struts
---
I also began wet sanding the headlight lens 220 to 500...is there any secret to getting rid of a burnt/amber-colored section of the lens?

Met with the atl markvii group and had a great time with fellow enthusiast of my mark.
Same routine otherwise just drove to store and took care of business as my everyday driver should.

still fighting a lean code.

i get the CEL every once in a while soon after a cold start up,
and almost always when its very cold (below freezing) outside.

i'm almost sure its a vac leak, but i wonder where...
