What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

ok.

research time.

so you need:
calipers, from either car.
cobra caliper brackets.
cobra 13" rotors.
------
will these 17'' Cobra rims I have work no prob? 13'' rotors and 17'' rims?

no problem with those wheels. if you find another set of 50 calipers please think of me!
i'm trying to find 13 inch rotors in the stock 5x 4.25 bolt pattern. i dont want to have to hub swap.

you won't find the rotors in a 5x4.25 pattern.
and you do not need to hub swap for cobra brakes.

however, you can order them predrilled here.
pay a machine shop to drill them.
drill them yourself.
or use a grinder to slot the holes and make them fit.

your pick.

Just drove it to work for the first time since I waxed it Monday. I don't know what it is, but the car just seems to drive better when it's clean :D She's running smooth, driving smooth, and riding great! :L

Eh if the white ones just a driver I would just throw on a strutmasters kit, the combination of tokicos and dlf's stuff won't be cheap.

Well its been 1 full month and the front end bushing are still silent after spraying them with some CRC silicone spray. I've never had anything last this long and work this well, it's been soo nice to have a completeley quite car this winter.

Thats all :D

NC is funny. In the county where my house is they have OBD-II emissions inspections that cost $35 bucks. I have all my vehicles registered in another county that doesn't have OBD-II so it only costs me $10 to get my '97 LSC inspected.

Here you can run straight headers and stop the exhaust there. The only window you need is the windshield and it can be broke anywhere. It can smoke like nobody's business. You wouldn't believe some of the crap that is on the road. I've seem better cars in the jy. I buy my tag's over the internet ($25 for the Mark), no front tag required.
As a matter of fact you can get a car from the jy that runs and make it a dd and no one will question you.

I forgot to ask. Will 245x50x16 fit on factory rims or will they rub?

They'll fit fine. That's what I've been running on my Marks for over 10 years. The only problem I've noticed is that they are a shade shorter than the factory 225/60's and your speedo will be off by 2-4mph. On my '97, when the speedo said 60 I was actually running 56.

Speedo shouldn't have been off on a 97. It reads off the ABS sensor...doesn't matter what size the tires are.

The rotational speed of the ABS sensor is changed by changing size of the tire so if it works off complete revolutions you are correct it will be off. I don't claim to know how they send the speed signal, but I had almost 28 inch tall tires on my car for a year and the speedo was dead on...but DLF you are correct it can affect it, I will eat my crow in the corner.

tire size absolutely matters.

The rotational speed of the ABS sensor is changed by changing size of the tire. I had almost 28 inch tall tires on my car for a year and the speedo was dead on...how about this it should be off to a lesser degree since you are not reading from a fixed signal such as a transmission output shaft.

yep. the rotational speed changed for a given linear speed.
so, it changed. if it was correct after, then it was wrong before.

when you put taller tires on, the rotational velocity for a given speed will be less. so the speedo will read slow. you will be going faster than 60 when the speedo is reading 60.

the opposite happens when you put on shorter tires. the rotational velocity will be higher for a given speed. so the speedo reads high.

both generations will be affected by a tire height change, and both generations will be affected by the same amount.

speedometers also have variance in them. so maybe yours just reads a little off, and was corrected by the tire height change.

I had 245x50x16's all the way around when I got the car from Jamie and I didn't like them very much. It drove fine but I just preferred to have what was supposed to be on it and I had 4 like new BF Goodrich 225/60/16's and I made the swap within a few weeks after getting the car home. Seems like someone told me my speedo was probably off by around 3 mph, I think. Not really enough to notice if you really like the looks of that tire size on your car.
