What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

I'm actually on my way to South Carolina right now. I'll be driving the Cougar for a little while. I won't be back home until sometime tomorrow night. So I'll have to see what I can find next week.

I think I have a couple extras. I'll look

How come you're not using Teflon tape on those threads? if I had to describe you in one word it would be "badatfollowingdirections"

 I did use a generous wrapping of teflon tape on the threads. Apparently the tape is still stuck to the part of the adapter that is still attached to the engine.

Well, I put my battery in mine yesterday, added 4qts of oil (yes 4!) Fired it up!

Backed it out and turned it around. Looks like the birds gave me a new paint job! Looks like a barn find now! Haha

:shifty: I don't see even a stitch of Teflon on the OPSU threads

I've only changed that opsu 2x...both times it was plenty tight way before all the threads disappeared into the female

It was snug, but not tight. It didn't start getting tight until it was almost completely flush with the housing.

It's there. Trust me.

Unfortunately, it looks like it bunched up at the top.

got bored so i threw in some stereo stuff i had laying around, 12" jlw1 in a huge ported box running on an OLD rockford fosgate punch 120.1. works pretty good had it installed under an hour. one thing i noticed it was ALOT easier on a gen 2 then a gen 1. more trunk height too :)

Can someone start up a gen 1 and let me know which console buttons flash on? Either my OD button crapped out on me, or the light on the screen did. I can't remember if OD flashed on or not on startup.

The button on the shifter does nothing..it has always been a little loose moving a bit left to right. Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to replace it for a gen 1? Apparently the thin cables break a lot..

My light does not work a lot of the time. I don't care because I use it a lot. When I start the car I push the button. When my tranny is warm I will let it have the button at about 45 mph, she will drop to about 1000 RPM. If I need to slow down or accelerate I hit it again.

I seldom lose track of where I am.

I can see it now all bunched up at the opening , what exactly did you use?? The tape in a white roll??

Nothing exciting. Waiting for it to warm up a tad more so I can rinse her belly and do a thorough cleaning.
