Yes but the fact you turned the washer shows the washer is junk. It should have a flat spot locking its position to the bolt

the washer on the nut side turned because(due to my lack of experience/ignorance) i turned the bolt from the other end...here's some photos, I think it's reusable, although the bolt has some of the threads flattened a bit, it still nuts up

I was gone last wkd but on Wednesday of last wk I decided to be lazy and left my car with my local mechanic, Joel. They changed oil/filter, flushed the coolant system, put in new tie rods and aligned, checked my brakes/pads. Today, I was again lazy, took the car to an Autobell had the 15 dollar and 3 dollar underbody wash and thorough vac/wipe down inside. Spent alot of time yesterday looking and reading about the Mercury Cougar and didn't realize the 94-99 models have the same MN12 platform and Teksid motor...cool.

For a temp fix of my headlights (blind) why can't I just wire the low beam and the high beam bulbs in parallel so that I have both low and high bulbs on with the highbeam bulbs on?

Will order bushings for the rear UCA's tomorrow from Rock Auto...the car has been my daily driver now for over a year...

Buy new cam bolt's from Advanced auto. That's what i just did, they were better then ever and worked perfectly! $22 each, at least you know there new.
 
why should I buy new ones? there's NO rust on these; the other side came out easily (b/c I did it right)..this bolt is flattened on some of the threads, but I can't see it loosening...I'll take it by the alignment shop and see if he's okay using it...
 
That spot in the washer could cause the alignment to slip, I think I have a spare washer I can send you, PM my your addy and I will drop it in the mail this afternoon.

Not exactly :D The 1989-1997 T-Bird and Cougar rode on the MN12 platform. That crappy little '99 imitation Cougar was a wrong-wheel-drive POS that was sitting on a Mondeo (Contour) platform. It didn't deserve to wear the name "Cougar".

And as far as I know, only the Mark VIII and Cobra used the "Teksid" alluminum block DOHC 4.6L V-8. The Cougar and T-Bird didn't even have a V-8 option in '89 or '90. Then they got the 302 from '91 - '93 and it was replaced by the cast-iron block SOHC 4.6L modular from 1994 to 1997 (end of run). The T-Bird/Cougar never got to use the DOHC alluminum block 4.6L V-8 from the factory.

Removing inner Tie Rod ends- how to remove correctly?

I thought there would be a very small locking pin to pull out before unscrewing the swivel nut?, but all I see is the black ring which is not firmly attached/secured to anything_this is the RH side and NOT the orig. inner tie rod end

1 5/16'' crows foot looks to be the right tool to remove

got my answer...apparently some swivel nuts will have a rivet or pin, some won't...i guess mine doesn't have a locking pin

Looks like the Cobra will get towed to the shop tomorrow. I'm tired of messing with it. The bad thing is this is the first and only car I've ever worked on that I've failed to fix or at least figure out what was wrong with it. It makes me feel sad and angry at the same time. And when it gets fixed, I guarantee it will be something stupid simple and I'll kick myself for not figuring it out. We shall see.
 
Got my LSC trim, now working on putting it on the car. Started on the headlight when it was sprinkling but now it's pouring. Hoping it stops so I can get this done today.

Bought a car stereo today at walmart, spent all of 50 bucks...I am tired of driving w/o tunes. Anybody out there who wants a JBL amplifier, actually I have three now, can have them...I can get a couple of bucks for them at the scrap yard too!
