    Gear wrench question

I considered getting something other than the Craftsman brand, but those seem to be so well built that I stuck with that brand. I think I've only needed the 8mm, 10mm and 18mm ratching wrenches. The 8 is good for the MLPS, IACV, battery terminal clamps, etc. The 10 works on just about...

    lugnut lock ?

Those locking lugs are fairly simple to get off without the key. Slip a tight fitting 1/2 inch drive socket over the lug nut and pound it down with a hammer. Attach a breaker bar, pull, and off the nut will come. The value of the locking lug nut is minimal since it's easily defeated. IMO...

    Who sells the best compressor?

Doing business with Eddie makes the most sense. I had some other air suspension issues that he help me pinpoint. Without the ability to discuss the matter with Eddie, I'm not sure how, or how much cash I would have needed, to fix that problem. Turned out I had to replace the suspension...

New Tech article, proof read and tell me what you think....

Seems like the write-up is very well done. Not sure I'd ever just replace the lower front ball joint, but rather changing the entire lower control arm makes more sense to me. For a lower control arm, you'd buy a Moog 95 Ford T-Bird LX 4.6L part, priced around $50. It's exactly the same has...

    Turn signal lever

That multi-function switch for a Gen1 Mark is around $40 at RockAuto. Fairly easy to change out yourself.

Don't let the handle name fool you. Apparently, this is a typical Cougar fan. Notice in the bio: interests includes boys and the gender of the bio writer is a male. This could be Michael Jackson.

Put 96 Alternator on my 95 today

The wire comes with the mentioned pigtail (connector). I believe it's 14 gauge. Yes, on the part. I listed the universal part number for you. A dealership will also sell the part. No, on the just soldering them up. Like I stated: tin the leads, crimp (un-insulated butt connectors) the...

Put 96 Alternator on my 95 today

The universal part number for a new pigtail is 87-6249. You'd need to check around at a couple of auto parts stores or online to find one. Cost of the "internal voltage regulator socket pigtail" is around $8. This replacement should be a standard practice when changing the alternator. The dealer...

    Tranny shudder question

Yeah, it tried it. It worked for awhile then the shutter came back. The permanent fix was to change the 1-2 accumulator piston and springs. If you haven't done it, look for TSB 97-11. Good luck.

    WTF is this???

Just with the price of shipping, that guy will cover all his cost and still have a profit of over 100%. Add to that the amount the bidder offers, and cha-ching. That type of part is available at Radio Shack for a dollar or two. And the best part, your car's performance doesn't really improve.

    Headlight alternatives

Yep. However, at a minimum you can do the headlight harness and just install 2 bulbs. The seller gives you little incentive to buy all four at a time. That guy knows the Mark VIII pretty well by now, so he will sell you the 9011. Those 9011 replace the stock 9005. I would consider this...

    Headlight alternatives

You would continue to use bulbs that are 65 watts. So, wattage does not change and heat levels should remain constant. HIRs are a newer technology that stock halogen bulbs. The headlight harness addresses the problem with voltage drops. Why don't you read this link...

    i'll never use Seafoam again!

Generally, both O2 sensors will not fail at the same time. Based on the codes, you should be able to determine which side needs to be replaced. For Bank1 or the passenger's side, you most likely would need to lower the exhaust to get access to that sensor. Once the pipe is lowered, that...

    Headlight alternatives

I'm assuming that by removing the reflector, that you mean glare shield. The shield that sits in front of the low beam bulb, within the housing assembly. I could only speculate that illumination would improve since I haven't seen such results, but the resulting glare may adversely effect...

    Headlight alternatives

Last year, my wife said she really couldn't drive the Mark VIII at night anymore, due to poor lighting. So I did the upgrade with a headlight harness in Nov 04. That helped, especially noticible with the high beams. In Dec, in went ahead and installed the HIRs in both on my Marks. My wife...

    Headlight alternatives

The key is to go with the 9011 HIRs and also install the headlight harness. Each of these two steps will jump up the illumination.
