    Creaking in my frontend

I did some googling and the Deeza parts seem to be good. Found another forum with some experience with it. Dan, I am curious to see if that trick works for you. I am going to do this job myself. My bro-in-law has a press. Already replaced the sway bar bushings (*%^$#!), clock spring...

    Creaking in my frontend

Thanks Pektel. I see they have two parts there, a Deeza (in stock and cheaper) and the Moog (a brand I have good experience with, but out of stock). Any advice on the Deeza part, or best to give the Moog a few days for an extra $17 each?

    Creaking in my frontend

ball joint diagnosis trick I have been having a similar problem, a creak when starting and stopping mainly. I could also bounce on the fender and get it to go. Seemed to get worse as the car was driven. Sounded like rubber on rubber, like a bushing creak. I got under the chassis with a...

    Front Wheel Bearings?

I recently had a rear wheel bearing go out and the dealer said I had to buy the hub/knuckle assembly at $900 and change. They said there was no other way, but the bearings are sold separately, and I found a machine shop to install it in my hub, and total. out the door installed was $300...

new coils from global, car has the shakes.

I have been advised that stock OEM plugs are the preferred plug replacement. These vehicles are tuned precisely for the hardware that came with it, and aftermarket parts, even high quality ones from good brands, are a risk. If you put the original plugs in, at least that can't be the issue...

    Question..kind of tricky

Sounds like a fuel problem. Did you pull any codes? The check engine light doesn't have to be lit and it can still have a value in memory. I had a problem similar, but more intermittent, and it turned out to be the fuel pump relay, an easy fix, located in the engine bay fuse holder...

    Intermittent fuel problem solved

Thanks! It does feel good, especially keeping my hard earned money in the wallet. I just wanted to put this out there with the words "secondary fuel pump circuit" and "fuel pump relay" in case somebody comes across the code for this fault (unfortunately, I don't remember the code!). Something...

    Intermittent fuel problem solved

I had a problem shortly after buying my 2002 V8 that I just thought to share with you guys. The car would infrequently not want to start, or start and then run very rough, and sometimes it would be running fine and then just start running rough or even die. The thing was, when it ran fine, it...

    keypad retrofit?

Thanks for the pics. That is a bit thicker than I thought, but still reasonable. I should have mine in the next day or two. I plan on putting it either on the pillar, or back at the license plate like the other fellow did. The rear position makes a certain sense, because most of the time I...

engine problems, need help, long thread but any info appreciated

I was under the impression these were Jag AJ-26 engines. Do they have the same issues? Anyone check on that?

    Timing Chain Teardown Time

Doing the sway bar now is smart. Much easier torn down like this, and for $20 in parts for the urethane bushing, it made a huge difference on my LS. That alone, when you get this back on the road, will put a big smile on your face.:D

new struts or complete suspenion overhaul??

I agree that you should check the sway bar bushings first. They are cheap (search this forum for where to get them, 17mm for standard sway bar) at only $20 or so shipped for polyurethane solid bushings, and though they are a pain to replace, it is doable. If you are getting a knocking like...

    Timing Chain Teardown Time

Thanks for doing this. Its interesting, and educational, and insightful on something many of us will face if we have our LSs long enough and the balls of a tiger (like you) to take this job on. Keep it up!

    Should I get out now?

Based on how you laid this out, keep it. You seem to like the car, it is in good condition now, and are concerned for what the future will bring. No matter what you get, if it is used and out of warranty, you could have the exact same concern. This forum is a great resource, I have learned a...

:q:q:q:qed Up my mirror, need suggestions!

Just got quoted a windshield with rain sensor (more expensive and they recommended OEM glass because aftermarket can cause problems with the wiper sensor) and it was $299, and they came to me. Without rain sensor and you might get it for close to 2 bills. Get a new mirror at the junkyard...

Pete, that is some good "outside the box" thinking. I like it, but the keypad is on the way!

Better to buy these cars after 95k miles?

If the recall date is 2000, normally cars after that recall announcement are presumed to be correct from the factory. I would assume the 2002 model year (which I also own) had this problem addressed by having the proper torque on those nuts. My 2002 was bought with 108K miles. I had some work...

Genesis is out ! Audi is in !

Very nice car (overpriced IMO), but I agree the lights are gimmicky. It won't be long before they lose their cool, and start looking cheap, sort of like the craze for aftermarket tail lights that are all chrome?

    keypad retrofit?

Hey Quick, your ride is awesome. Under 13 in the 1/4? Wow! Your 2001 looks really clean. It amazes me how many of these LSs have so few door dings and good paint at this age. They must have used thick sheet metal. Or perhaps it is the blue haired old lady that parks it in her garage...
